about

The predominant subject of my work is communication with others. dialogue. conversation. language. hearing and listening. our desire to be heard. our need to belong. How extensive is our ability to listen? Is there room for others among individuals? If everyone feels legitimate, is it possible to share a common space?

I am interested to investigate what an ideal experience of communication would be. I believe verbal language acts as an obstacle to our ability to connect with others. Stripped of words, the body would recover an idyllic state of selfless giving and receiving. Especially during the sexual act. A balance exchange would occur.

With the desire to explore what these epitomes are, I create stories, worlds and characters that experiment with human connection. The surreal and the dream enable this endless investigation through the use of drawing, animation and film.

My comic series 'The Diary of Stephanie and Stephanie', was the genesis for a 35mm cut-out animation 'The Old Noise'. Most recently, I authored a series of mini comics including: 'Invent New Sexual Positions', 'A Harlot’s Progress’ and 'Talking and Listening’. My work has been published and shown internationally, notably in Swindle and Swingset Magazines, Subliminal Projects Gallery, IniVia, the Substation Gallery, the Danger Museum, Film Forum's First Sight Scene Festival, and at The Silent Movie Theatre in LA. I earned a Master's degree in Experimental Animation at CalArts and Bachelor's of Fine Arts at Bard.

I currently work in Los Angeles.
